Cesar Chavez

Cesar Chavez was born to a Mexican-American family. Whom would thought that a poor person had the courage to fight for the immigrants to have better wages, better housing and better health.
His real name was Cesario no Sizar or Cesar his name is Cesario Estrada Chavez. This was the name giving by his parents in honor of his grandfather. His parents names were Juana Chavez and Librado Estrada. He was the 2 of the 6 children. he attended school at age 7. School was difficult for him because his family spoke only Spanish in home he learn English in school and from his uncles and grant parents. His mother taught him, to be a human been, down to earth, and be good to others. In the1930s the Chavez family moved from Yuma Arizona to California and they became part of the migrant community, and in that time the Chavez family were so poor that the had to sleep in their car because they did not have money to rent a home. The Chavez family use to traveled from farm to farm picking up fruits and vegetables to obtain money to make a living. Because of that situation he attended more than 30 elementary schools. When he was going to school he was discriminating many times. One day one of his teachers put a sign hanging from his neck that it says ( I am a clown I speak Spanish) the teacher say if you are American Speak only English if you want to speak Spanish go back to Mexico.
When Cesar Chaves finished his 8 grade he started working in the vineyards to help support the family he also promises his mother that he would work fulltime that way she didn’t have to work more. When turn 17 years he enlisted to the navy and served the second war world II.After he return from serving the Navy he married Helen Fabela . They had 8 children. Cesar Chavez moved with his family to Delano, where he funded the (UFW) United farmer Workers. He work’s for the rights of farmers and support the immigrants. Cesar Chavez made a huge strike to the big grape companies so they would increase their wages and benefits for the workers. He lead a big march from Delano to Sacramento Capitol to ask help to the government this march started with 67 workers and finished with 10,000 people supporting the march. His foundation UFW was a very important key for many immigrants to obtain their amnesty in 1986 . Another big thing he did he fast for 30 day to show, insist and to stop the World the use pesticides . All his Marches and strikes were peaceful and no violence involved. César Chaves died en April 23 1993 in San Luis Arizona at that time that he died he never owned a car or a house .
